SHRI SHIVAJI MARATHA SOCIETY - BACKGROUND AND PROFILE

Shri. Shivaji Maratha Society was established in June, 1921 under the able guidance of his Highness Chhatrapati Shrimant Late Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur Sansthan. The society is established at Pune in the memory of the Great Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji who spent his childhood in and around Pune.The Society is registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.Quite a large number of great personalities have edeavoured for the quantitative and qualitative development of the Society, Viz. Late. Shri. Shrimant Khase Saheb Maharaj of Devas, Baburao Jedhe , Guruvarya Baburao Jagtap, Padmashree Kakasaheb Wagh, Karmveer Bhausaheb hire, Baburao Gholap, Deshbhakta Keshavrao Jedhe, Baburao Sanas, Rambhau Khese, Keshavrao Dhere, Ganapatrao Shedge, Bhaskarrao Jadhav, Raobahaddur Thube, Sakharamji jedhe to mention a few. In addition to these personalities, Pune Municipal Corporation, Pune Zilla Parishad and a large number of Social Workers and Donors have extended their cooperation for the development of this society.

We are very proud of great social worker Dr. Baba Adhav, Nilubhau Phule – the actor & social worker, Rajarambapu Patil – Political leader, Bhai Vaidya – socialist leader are the products of Shri Shivaji Maratha Society. Our Society has given and created four Vice- Chancellors of different Universities in Maharashtra. A large number of Social Workers, Politicians & Educationalist are the creation of our renowned society.

At present Shrimant Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur is a President of the Society, Shri. Shashikant Sutar is a Honourary Secretary, Mrs. Kamal Vyavahare is an Hounourary Joint Secretary of the Society. Shri Abasaheb Shinde is working as a Treasurer of the Society. Shri Suresh Khaire is working as a Chairman of Governing Council of the Society. Shri Pandurang Gaikwad is working as a Chairman Executive Council of the Society. Hon’ble District & Sessions Judge Shri. B. D. Gaikwad is a Chairman of Local Managing Committee of Law College.

OUR MISSION

‘Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay’ being the mission statement for the society, the same is followed by the Law College. The (S.S.M.S.L.C.) Shri Shivaji Maratha Society’s Law College is established in the year 2003 with main objective of imparting quality professional education to the students coming from all strata of the society & up bringing the masses & aiming at the following goals.

  • To impart value education & ethics & to set new standard of excellence.
  • To create quality advocates & responsibilities human being rather than degree holders.
  • To inculcate a positive attitude & the right professionalism in each student through disciplined & dedicated efforts.
